NYFW 2017 – Day 3

NYFW - Day 3 obviously starts with a healthy dose of caffeine and some carbs as this promises to be a long day albeit full of shows and entertainment.

I’m invited by the AMCONYC to cover some of their shows. The venue is a penthouse with an industrial view, which by itself is very editorial and unconventional. So, I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

I go behind the scenes and catch an electric atmosphere where designers, models and make-up artists are weaving the magic of styling. I meet the designer of Onyii & Co who candidly shares with me the inspiration for her work: the Japanese culture and aesthetic. I’m all ears as all things Japanese intrigue me: beginning with food, music and their quirky sense of fashion. She promises a lot of bamboo and wraps - all classic Japanese inspired elements. And she delivers. The show is a song of tranquility skillfully balanced with colorful elements.

The following show is one by Kelly Dempsey, designer of her new brand, Rack Addik, and former runner-up of Project Runway.  In contrast, her show is an ode to the city girl whose vanity and playfulness is irresistible. There is a lot of sequins, fun, and models carrying mirrors and playfully dancing.

I strike a conversation with an editor and a photographer and I end up getting myself invited to a few more shows that evening, Below are some pictures form Carmina Romero’s collection that was displayed during a designer’s collective show. She clearly knows her prints and she masterfully applies herself to deliver powerful feminine silhouettes.

Finally, here is my outfit for DAY 3 for the NYFW ( below I linked some similar options).

And as (my) tradition requires :-), we end our evening at a lovely Latin restaurant where we enjoy some deconstructed Mexican food that looks and tastes just as editorial as the shows I’ve savored throughout the day.

Also, many thanks to AMCONYC for their gracious invitation to cover and attend their shows.  It was a pleasure being there and I tremendously enjoyed every show.

Thank you so much for reading.  I hope you enjoyed this post and should you fall in love with some of these looks, you can SHOP THE RUNWAY ,  courtesy of AMCONYC, who not only hosts wonderful fashions shows but also promotes emerging designers by sponsoring their shows and helping them sell their collections.
