Military Chic | How To Style A Utility Dress
Khaki and olives are in this season and I personally love these colors. They are every bit versatile and luxurious and can make an outfit look very polished when you accessorize them with oversized metallic or gold jewelry. One can easily look very polished by going for a monochromatic look but these colors can also serve as a great neutral base for an outfit. So, yes, khakis, olives and mossy greens are the new neutrals this season.
Because my dress already had metallic accents ( don;t you love the oversized metallic buttons?!) , I did not add to much jewelry. I only played up the same element by adding a pair of oversized earrings and a bag which has a round metallic buckle. That ensured that I did not have too much going on and distracting form the overall outfit.
- Pick a dress that already has hardware that matches your existing accessories. Like the dress that I am featuring here with the oversized metallic round buttons :-)
- Alternatively, pick a dress that has a very simple cut and doesn't have any statement elements. That way you can accessorize it both with gold or silver jewelry and maximize your looks. I have both types of dresses and will feature the more neutral one in the one of my subsequent blog posts.
- Wear it with over-he-knee boots or ankle boots to add a little edginess.
Hope you liked my tips. I would love to hear how you style an utility dress. Also, below I am listing some of my picks for utility dresses.
